Specialist tutors to support every child

Who do we tutor?
At Spark Academy Tutoring, we are proud to be inclusive and provide tuition for every child. Our team includes specialist tutors experienced in supporting children with additional needs.

We offer tailored tuition for pupils with autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, non-verbal needs, global learning delay, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment for all.
How does it work?
Before your child’s first lesson, we will arrange an initial telephone consultation to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs. If your child has an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) or an individual plan, we will discuss its targets and the recommended provision to support them in achieving these milestones.

During the first session, we will focus on building a positive relationship with your child while conducting short baseline assessments. This process helps us understand their strengths and areas for development in a comfortable and supportive setting.

After the session, we will share the assessment results with you and outline the next steps. Based on this, we will create a personalised tutoring plan tailored to your child’s unique needs, which we will begin to implement in subsequent lessons.

What happens in lessons?
Our lessons are completely bespoke, designed to meet the unique needs of your child and aligned with their next steps for learning and development. Each session is carefully planned to ensure that your child receives the targeted support they need to thrive.

For children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), our tutors are fully trained and experienced in delivering evidence-based programs such as Intensive Interaction (to build communication and social interaction skills), The Curiosity Approach (fostering exploration and independent thinking), and LEGO Therapy (to develop social communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills).

We have found that shorter, focused online lessons of 20 to 30 minutes are highly effective in maintaining children’s engagement and enjoyment. These shorter sessions ensure that every minute is impactful, allowing us to provide high-quality, meaningful learning experiences without overwhelming the child. This structure ensures that progress is steady, consistent, and tailored to each child’s pace and comfort level.

Whether online or in person, our lessons are designed to balance fun and structure, helping children to feel motivated, confident, and excited about learning.
